For a Folk Legend, a Time to Read Mail and Split Logs

Pete Seeger is 91 years old and he is an inspiration to all of us musicians. Both in terms of longevity and in the social purpose of music making.

As a Folk musician Seeger has been at the fore-front of American music since shortly after World War II. He is still composing and performing and raising a ruckus for lefty causes.

So, whether you are a punk-wannabe in middle school or, like me, an old timer, Pete Seeger is a worthy role model on leading a thoroughly musical life that has purpose.

The New York Times on Sunday (October 3, 2010) paid tribute to Seeger with a short, “soft news” interview of the 91-year old musician…
